Virtually testing new heart valves
There are many patients who at different ages need to replace deformed or malfunctioning heart valves. The implants used for these procedures come in different sizes and are difficult to place. This becomes even more challenging during procedures relying on catheter techniques.
Cardiac surgeons need more support tools to better plan, prepare, predict and prevent problems that may occur during heart valve replacement surgeries.
In the HoloValve project, we develop a solution where holograms of the heart are used to plan operations and virtually test new heart valves.
The ambition of HoloValve is to turn the holograms into advanced 3D maps that will ensure safer navigation and better positioning of the valve.
